ESP protectors are constructed with AFLAS bag and pipe labyrinth oil-filled chambers. The chambers are configured in series or parallel based on a variety of factors — including ESP horsepower and the expected oil expansion volume — so that pressure equalisation stays within the elastomer’s limits across the full thermal cycle.
Our 456-series protectors use a modular, multichamber design and are factory-filled with purified dielectric oil, so no oil servicing is required at the wellsite. Elastomer bags are supplied in AFLAS or highly saturated nitrile (HNBR) to suit the temperature and chemical duty.
The 456 series is the compact format in our protector range. Its modular multichamber construction lets us add or remove bag and labyrinth chambers so the total oil-expansion volume matches the motor horsepower and the thermal duty of the specific well, instead of forcing the well to fit a fixed design.

Key Features
- Series: 456 (4.56 in / 116 mm housing OD)
- Design: modular, multichamber — bag + labyrinth, series or parallel
- Elastomers: AFLAS, HNBR
- Factory-filled with purified dielectric oil
Typical Applications
- Smaller-horsepower ESP motors in 4.56 in / 116 mm housings
- Slim-hole and cost-sensitive completions where a compact protector is required
- Wells where chamber volume must be tuned by adding bag or labyrinth sections in series
- Wellsite-friendly installations — units arrive factory-filled, so no dielectric-oil servicing is needed
- Retrofit and replacement of existing 456 protector chambers
